Yevhen was born on May 27, 1973 in Kyiv. In the second grade, the class teacher sent a closed Yevhen to the theater studio "Barvinok". Here the schoolboy revealed himself, having found his vocation - puppet theater.

Yevhen's parents were engineers at the Leninska Kuznya shipyard, so they were very surprised when his son announced that he would go to study in the theatrical field. At that time, the Kyiv Theater Institute did not yet train specialists in puppet theater, so Yevhen went to the Ivan Kotlyarevsky Kharkiv National University of Arts. In the 1990s, there were only two people willing to study for specialists in puppet theater, but Eugene devoted himself entirely to his work, spending all his free time in the theater studio.

In addition to acting, Yevhen was also a designer of theatrical puppets for the Kyiv Municipal Academic Theater and the Kyiv Academic Puppet Theater, as well as for educational theaters of the Kyiv Municipal of the Academy of Variety and Circus Arts and the Ivan Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University of Theater, Film and Television. In the latter, he taught the technology of creating dolls for 12 years.

Details

He died on July 27, 2023 in battle near the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. Yevhen received fatal injuries as a result of a direct hit of an enemy shell into the dugout. Exactly two months before that, the defender turned 50 years old.

"Genius Antonovich" – that's what his students called him. Kind, reliable, compassionate, "said Larysa's wife.

Context

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has joined the Defense Forces of Ukraine. He served as a junior sergeant as a combat vehicle commander in the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

What's next

In 1994, he completed his studies in Kharkiv and got a job at the Puppet Theater on the left bank of the Dnipro, where he worked all his life. Eugene's first play was "Little Muck" based on the fairy tale by Wilhelm Hauf. Since 2007, he has also worked in parallel at the Kyiv Academic Puppet Theater.
