As noted, in Japan, Tesla offers the Model Y at a price of 5.6 million yen. However, a buyer from Tokyo can purchase it at a price of 3.6 million yen ($22,889 ) thanks to state and municipal subsidies, the aggregate amount of which is about 2 million yen.
With these benefits, the Model 3 could be worth only 3.3 million yen.
According to the publication, in the first half of the year, the Model Y became the car that was most often imported into Japan. Tesla manufactures this electric car at its plant in Shanghai (China).
It is noted that prices in Tokyo are lower than in China - a country with an extremely high level of competition, where the cost of the Model Y starts from about 263,500 yuan ($39,344).
In the US state of California, where buyers are given subsidies of up to $3,500 for those who buy an electric car for the first time, this vehicle still costs more than $36,000.
