This was reported by the Department of Healthof the Lviv RMA, Ukrinform reports.

"The Educational and Scientific Production Pharmaceutical Center was opened at the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University. Medicines will be manufactured here, as well as future pharmacists will be trained, "the statement reads.

It is noted that the Medical University has a Center for Molecular Design, where they work on the creation of new molecules, their synthesis and the study of mechanisms of action – in fact, on the basis for the development of new drugs.

As Ukrinform reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution on the establishment of the Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Agency (Ukrpharmagency), a new body of state control in the pharmaceutical industry.

Context

The RMA added that the training and production pharmacy had been working at the university since 1991, but during the COVID-19 pandemic and after the beginning of the full-scale war, production completely stopped. Now it is being restored by the Center's team headed by Director Zoryana Zabolotna.

The Center for Molecular Design has been operating for only two years, but already has partners in 24 countries around the world. The Ukrainian Society of Medical Chemistry, headed by Professor Roman Lesyk, was admitted to the European Federation of Medical Chemistry and Chemical Biology this month. Prior to that, Ukraine was not represented in this organization.

What's next

It is noted that the Center has already launched the production of solutions and plans to gradually resume other areas of work in the future. For this purpose, modern equipment was purchased and the premises were updated, more than UAH 4.5 million was allocated from the regional budget for the implementation of the project.
