Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasiuk welcomed the adoption in the United States of a bill by Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal on "punitive duties" for countries that buy Russian energy resources, and noted that this would contribute to the reduction of oil revenues of the Russian Federation.

Vlasiuk welcomed the adoption of the Graham-Blumenthal draft in the House of Representatives and noted that this law should become an important element of comprehensive pressure on Russia.

He also welcomed the fact that sanctions cover Iran – since Moscow and Tehran have long been cooperating in the military-industrial field, exchanging technologies and using common supply channels, and Iranian drones and components for weapons became part of the war against Ukraine.

On September 16, the US House of Representatives passed a bill co-sponsored by Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal on "punitive" duties for countries that buy Russian energy resources; now it must be signed president Donald Trump.
